Milano Design Week 2019
Day 5: Come rain or shine

"Five appointments not to miss"
"Milan Design Week must see"
"Young, fresh and innovative"

These are just a handful of quotes about Ventura Centrale and Ventura Future from the media that I woke up to this morning. Journalists are writing so extensively that it’s nearly impossible to keep up and archive. Today I had another two interviews. The media storm is not over, it has only begun!

Speaking of a storm, the anticipated rain arrived today, the one thing we can’t control this week.... BUT all the brave visitors conquered the rain and came equipped with umbrellas and ponchos, ready to warm themselves up with some good design.

Today I met the team of Sky Arte to discuss a documentary about design that they are working on. To be followed by a meeting during which we talked about possible future design events in Los Angeles. With Ventura Projects we already landed on the east coast with Ventura New York, but this afternoon we fantasized about expanding to the west coast. And right at the next meeting, I jumped the Pacific and sat down with a group from Tokyo to also speak about the future of design.
The afternoon finished with a great group of 30 guests of the Dutch Interior Institute that I welcomed to see Ventura Centrale - their reactions were so enthusiastic!!

Meanwhile, at Ventura Future the General Consul of South Africa in Milan visited the projects of Pascale Theron Studio and Mash. T Design Studio c/o Thabisa Mjo, our South African designers. Besides this, a record number of visitors came to experience and discover the innovative and conceptual presentations of our 83 exhibitors at BASE Milano. Looking forward to see the rising numbers this weekend!

The Design Academy Eindhoven will have it’s official design week party this evening. As an alumni, that’s always a treat on the agenda - seeing familiar faces and enter the warm design nest where I once started!
