VENTURA FUTURE 2019 RECAP:
A DECADE OF DESIGN ADVENTURES

Ventura Projects looks back on a great second edition of Ventura Future. This year, in collaboration with BASE Milano, the event welcomed 26,000 unique visitors and 90,000 visits. Celebrating a decade of Ventura Projects in Milan, the week brought together everything that the organisation envisioned: forward-thinking projects, young talents, socially engaged design, academy presentations and a curious design audience that embraced the ideas of the future.

The creative hub BASE Milano, in Zona Tortona, was this year’s home of Ventura Future’s 83 exhibitors. It turned out to be a compatible alliance between two organisations that share a passion for experimentation and innovation. The projects were carefully curated throughout the premises to offer the best possible design story for the visitor.

Because the Tortona area sees a large flow of visitors every year during the Design Week, Ventura Future chose to introduce an entrance fee to make the visit more fluid for a professional and design-minded audience. This resulted in a curious crowd that was appreciative of all the talent and bold design on view. This soft filtering of the audience was instrumental to the goals of Ventura Future: to create a platform where a dialogue about the future of design can take place, where talent can be scouted and where designers will gain business opportunities.

Ventura Future received notable visits from members of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the Topteam Creative Industry and the Dutch Consulate General of Milan. Also, the South African Consul-General of Milan and the alderman of the Municipality of Milan came to discover the future of design. With these visits, Ventura Future once again established its importance as a podium for a flourishing creative industry that addresses global affairs. One project that fully illustrated this mindset was a special group exhibition that showcased eight pioneering ideas in the realm of bio-design.

About Ventura Future
Last year Ventura Projects launched the successful first edition of Ventura Future, an exhibition area packed full of revolutionary, innovative and ground-breaking design focused on future visions by international designers, design studios, companies and academies. In 2018 the event took place in three locations in the Loreto district, namely Loft, FuturDome and the former pharmacy faculty of Viale Abruzzi. In 2019 Ventura Future was brought back to the Tortona district in partnership with BASE Milano.
